Basic design
Basic design is the intermediate design level that directly follows the conceptual stage, where one or two conceptual solutions have been designed. In the Basic design, these possible solutions are further examined in economic, financial, infrastructural and geological studies. The goal of this design stage is to provide the close estimate of the cost for each of the building phase.
The results of the Basic design are:
- Verification of the result of the Conceptual design phase
- Definition of the final functional requirements
- Flow Diagrams of the Process flow
- Personnel and material flow though the facility
- Detailed layouts of the whole facility and all the rooms
- Overall P&ID diagram
- Specification of the major equipment
- Specification of the process instruments
- Specification of the complementary goods and services
- Specification of the safety systems
- Specification of the automation system and it's architecture
- Cost estimation for the whole project ± 20%
